Chula Vista’s Latin Fusion Food Truck Algo Bueno will host Mercado Zona Libre, which makes its debut on April 15 and April 16, in a family-friendly environment that offers vendors and small businesses alternatives other than selling on the street.

Mercado Zona Libre, or free zone market, will feature international bites and small businesses a block off the heart of Chula Vista, at 354 Church Avenue. This pop-up market will operate Fridays from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M., and Saturdays from 8 A.M to 2 P.M.

“We cannot wait to share not only our food with you, but also shine a light on other local, small businesses, too,” shared Rodrigo Rodriguez, Co-Founder of Mercado Zona Libre and San Diego’s Algo Bueno Food Truck. “We want this Mercado to be a place of community. We hope everyone will come out and enjoy the company of local artisans and businesses, all while savoring unique bites you won’t find anywhere else.”

According to Rodriguez and his wife Silvia Loya, Co-Founder of Mercado Zona Libre and San Diego’s Algo Bueno Food Truck, the idea of having this marketplace stemmed from their collective love for food, culture, and community involvement.

The pair opened Algo Bueno Food Truck in 2020 and sprouted in Chula Vista where they call home. With flavors drawn from international travels and experiences, the couple cultivates a “family-friendly environment” and welcomes people from all walks of life.
