A South Bay area man is under arrest after his mother was found dead inside a car in the Egger Highlands neighborhood of San Diego.
According to a San Diego police report, officers received an emergency call Saturday about an unconscious woman who had been seen inside a car.
When police showed up, they found the body of a 68-year-old Asian woman in the back seat of a parked car on Bubbling Well Drive. Police reported that the vehicle was registered to the address where it was parked.
Agents attempted to speak to a 37-year-old man inside the home, but the man barricaded himself. Officers then surrounded the house and tried to negotiate with the man, but he refused to come out.
Officers eventually entered and apprehended the man without incident.
Homicide detectives are investigating the incident on suspicion of the woman's death. Detectives learned that the man is the victim's son, and that he also lives in the house.
The investigation is ongoing.
The exact cause of death remains unknown at this time. The county medical examiner is pending an autopsy.
The police identified the woman, but that information has not been released.
San Diego police asked anyone with information to call the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293.
