South Bay residents can get rid of trash and junk collecting in their homes on Saturday with a Free Dump Day hosted by South Bay Sustainable Communities.

In partnership with Caltrans District 11 to help create cleaner communities, South Bay Sustainable Communities will host its free Dump Day on July 16 at 570 C St, Chula Vista from 7-11 a.m, or until bins are full.

According to event organizers, Caltrans will have multiple dumpsters available to accept household waste and approved debris. The event will accept up to four mattresses and four tires that are separated from rims per household.

Caltrans will not accept the following items:

  • treated wood waste
  • construction debris
  • Compressed gas or aerosol cans
  • hazardous waste
  • E-waste
  • Refrigerators or freezers.

Residents who don’t have any junk to get rid of may volunteer to rid the community of it during the South Bay Community Clean-Up on Saturday, July 16 at 2585 Main St., beginning at 8 a.m. South Bay Sustainable Communities encourages residents to be a part of the solution in keeping communities clean.

Those interested in volunteering are asked to register by calling (619) 738-4188 or email at SBSustainableCommunities@gmail.com
