A 21-year-old motorcyclist died Tuesday evening after colliding with a Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) transit bus in Chula Vista.
Witnesses reported seeing the incident at approximately 10:25 p.m. near Third Avenue and Orange Avenue at approximately, according to the Chula Vista Police Department. Officers and Fire department personnel responded and found the motorcyclist unresponsive, ultimately pronouncing him dead at the scene.
The motorcyclist was speeding before entering the intersection against a red light and struck the side of an MTS transit bus, according to witnesses at the scene. According to CVPD Sgt. Anthony Molina, bus passengers were not injured by the incident.
The bus driver was evaluated and determined to not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but the results of the motorcyclists are pending.
The motorcyclist's name is being withheld pending notification to family members, Molina said.
