The Chula Vista Animal Care Facility is offering free spay and neuter for cats and dogs services to income-qualified National City residents.
There are only 20 spaces available for spay and neuter surgeries, which must be booked in person during business hours before the Nov. 16. Officials ask pet owners to not bring along their furry friends when booking an appointment.
“The Chula Vista Animal Care Facility encourages owners to always spay and neuter their pets. There is a serious pet overpopulation problem in San Diego County. By spaying or neutering your pet, you can be part of the solution,” The Animal Care Facility wrote in a statement.
According to the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility, this program is funded by grants obtained from California, HEART of San Diego, and Petco Love to help community members experiencing hardship. Documentation of income or government assistance and residency in National City must be provided, along with your photo ID needed to qualify.
Examples of government assistance include EBT/WIC/SNAP, social security, and CARE discount on an SDG&E bill. The Chula Vista Animal Care Facility will also accept a 2021 Tax Return to determine income elegibility.
Once the paperwork is complete, we will provide the date and instructions for surgery day. The cost of surgery, rabies vaccination, and pain medications are covered for you. Microchips, which are registered for life at no cost, are available for purchase for $20.
The offer is extended to residents of Chula Vista and National City, but appointments are limited.
