La Lotería is a traditional Mexican game that has been a staple of the Latino community, uniting generations with colorful boards and cards full of cultural images such as “el arpa, la sandía, and el soldado, to name a few.

Community members can relive this pleasant and unforgettable memory on Oct. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Glen Abbey Memorial Park & Mortuary, located at 3838 Bonita Road, in a free event that connects Latino families with their memories of nearly a century.

“We are inviting the entire community because while it is true that Glen Abbey, our park in Bonita, has been in the community for almost 100 years, there are many new families who can benefit from knowing our beautiful gardens and everything we offer to our loved ones," event organizers wrote in a statement.

Dignity Memorial is a network of funeral homes and cemeteries with 14 branches in San Diego County. It is also the leading provider of funeral, cremation, and cemetery services in North America.

“We are inviting families so that all members of the community feel welcome and comfortable discussing these planning issues while having a lovely evening,” event organizers wrote in a statement.

The event will feature gifts, snacks, music, and loads of fun with the purpose to invite San Diego’s Latino communities with a traditional game enjoyed by everyone, according to event organizers.
