A multi-vehicle collision involving three vehicles caused a fire hydrant to burst on a busy Chula Vista street Wednesday morning.
The male driver of the Honda minivan heading southbound on Eastlake Parkway made a right-hand turn onto Otay Lakes Road at approximately 9:26 a.m., where he collided with a Dodge Charger, according to OnScene T.V. The Honda driver turned into the first lane instead of the rightmost lane, which caused the collision.
The impact of the incident had sent the male driver and his female passenger Dodge charger to the right shoulder and into a fire hydrant. The impact had broken off the hydrant, causing water to gush out.
According to OnScene T.V., the minivan then went over the center divider and hit a Honda Pilot. The male driver of the Honda Pilot was waiting in the turn lane from eastbound Otay Lakes Rd and going to make a left turn onto Eastlake Parkway.
The Otay Water District shut off the water flow approximately 45 minutes after the collision. Authorities believe the driver of the Honda Minivan was at fault in these collisions.
No injuries were reported in this incident.
