(Notistarz/AMEXI).– Animal protein is an essential ally in maintaining strength, mobility, and quality of life in older adults, according to nutrition specialists and research institutions.

As the body ages, it naturally loses muscle mass, a process that can lead to sarcopenia, reduced independence, and a decline in quality of life. Adequate intake of animal protein provides the amino acids and nutrients needed to counteract this process, helping people over 60 preserve energy and strength.

Medical studies indicate that a balanced diet that includes animal protein helps improve bone density, strengthen the immune system, support tissue regeneration, and provide energy that positively impacts cognitive function.

According to the Center for Research in Food and Development (CIAD), older adults require between 1 and 1.2 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight, depending on their level of physical activity. These needs can be met with everyday foods such as chicken, eggs, or fish.

Nutritionists emphasize the importance of consulting specialists to determine proper portions and design a balanced dietary plan tailored to individual needs. They stress that protein not only nourishes but also equips older adults with the tools they need to stay active and healthy throughout every stage of life.
