A new chapter unfolds for Chula Vista’s renowned NOVA Easy Kombucha as they debut their very first beer, NOVA Beach Lager. This innovative brew is crafted with the infusion of coconut water and boasts a modest 4% alcohol-by-volume (ABV). Beer enthusiasts and casual sippers alike can now savor this unique creation, available on draft and in convenient six-packs of 12-oz. cans. You can find it exclusively at NOVA’s sister locations, NOVO Brazil Brewing outlets in Chula Vista and Imperial Beach, as well as at NOVA’s own Ocean Beach taproom. The announcement was made by NOVA’s founder, Tiago Carneiro.
NOVA Beach Lager’s distinctive flavor profile is achieved through the use of Sabro hops, known to impart a medley of tangerine, coconut, tropical fruit, and stone fruit aromas, accompanied by subtle notes of cedar, mint, and cream, as described by Yakima Valley Hops.
What sets this beer apart is its coconut water aftertaste and a modest 8 IBU (International Bitterness Units), a scale that gauges hop bitterness on a range from 0 to 100. In addition to its unique flavor, each 12-oz. can contains a mere 100 calories, offering a guilt-free indulgence.
“I firmly believe that NOVA Beach Lager is the most invigorating lager you can discover in all of San Diego,” Carneiro declared. “Even though summer might be behind us, our warm and sunny weather certainly isn’t going anywhere soon. NOVA Beach Lager is bound to win over everyone, especially those seeking a refreshingly light brew on a beautiful day.”
Please note that NOVA Beach Lager is exclusively available at NOVA and NOVO locations and is not retailed through traditional stores. You can find NOVO breweries in Imperial Beach at 535 Florence Street and in Chula Vista at 901 Lane Avenue and 2015 Birch Road, Suite 1017. Meanwhile, NOVA’s Ocean Beach taproom, which recently underwent an expansion, now features a 1,600-square-foot game room, doubling its size, and can be found just half a mile from the OB Pier at 4845 Newport Avenue.
Brewmaster Guilherme Hoffmann, steering the ship at NOVA and NOVO Brewing since November 2021, expressed his excitement over this unique venture. “This experiment couldn’t have yielded better results. Brewing with coconut water is somewhat unique in the industry, and I believe we’ve stumbled upon something that’s here to stay. NOVA Beach Lager perfectly embodies our brand, and it’s already gaining quite a following. I extend my gratitude to Tiago for his visionary spirit and to my entire team for making this journey possible.”
