The San Diego Padres wrapped up a week where they won a pair of series against the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers.

On Sunday, the Padres finished the series against division rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers, with an important and impressive 6-3 win at Dodger Stadium.

Early last week, on Monday night, the Padres hosted the Chicago Cubs in a game they fell behind 8-0 midway through the first game of that series before having one of the biggest comeback victories in the ball club’s history, eventually winning the game 9-8.

This past Friday night, the Padres went north of Interstate-5 to play their biggest division rivals and the #1 ranked team in baseball. The Padres won Friday’s and Sunday night’s nationally televised games to claim the series.

The Padres now have a 9-9 record, only two wins behind their first-place rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have an 11-7 overall record.

After Saturday night’s game in Los Angeles, in which Los Angeles won, the Dodgers’ Will Smith made remarks about the Padres’ Jurickson Profar, calling him “irrelevant.”

The following night, on Sunday, Profar paved the way for the Padres to gain control of the score by launching a deep hit that sent base runners home and eventually won the game in the 7th inning.

San Diego will be starting a series today against the Milwaukee Brewers before they return home to host the Toronto Blue Rays for a home series this coming Friday night.
