Runners and walkers are invited to register for the Côta Vera 5K Fun Run, which will wind through the 155-acre Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center (formerly the Olympic Training Center). The October 14th family event will finish with a festive beer garden, food trucks, and vendor displays. Participants will receive two complimentary drink tickets and swag.
“This is a fun run designed for the whole family, couples, singles, or teams,” said Tim Minjares, director of marketing for HomeFed Corporation, developer of the master-planned village of Côta Vera. “Our new village in Chula Vista embraces community connections and wellness. This event, which benefits SBCS, will highlight the benefits of getting outside and
connecting with neighbors at a unique venue right in our backyard,” he said. “To encourage family participation, kids 13 and under can participate for free,” he added.
The race will feature staggered starts from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Registration begins at 9:15 a.m. The post-race beer garden and festivities run from 11:15 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Registration is $25 per person, with kids 13 and under free. Registration is available at cotavera.com/funrun.
One hundred percent of proceeds will benefit SBCS, a local non-profit serving youth and families with a variety of services, including food assistance, housing, and job assistance, services for foster youth, mental health counseling, and domestic violence shelters and services.
