Governor Gavin Newsom congratulated the newly graduated officers, recognizing their significant achievement. In a statement from the state government’s press office, it was emphasized that the CHP “is the largest public-facing state law enforcement agency in the United States.”
It was further noted that “with over 6,500 sworn officers assigned throughout California, there has been a significant increase in recent applications, leading to a tripling of training operations for the first time in its history to meet the growing interest.” It was also recalled that “as part of California’s $1.1 billion investment to enhance public safety in 2022, the CHP launched a recruitment campaign to fill 1,000 officer positions,” by hiring qualified individuals from the diverse communities of California.

The new officers took the oath before CHP Commissioner Sean Duryee during a graduation ceremony held at the CHP Academy in West Sacramento.
Regarding the oath-taking of the new recruits, Governor Gavin Newsom stated that “all Californians should be proud of these new officers as they embark on a fulfilling career to keep California and our families safe, as they instill trust and security in our communities, representing the best of the Golden State.”
For his part, CHP Commissioner Sean Duryee affirmed, “this graduation marks a significant milestone in the lives of these new officers. I want to congratulate these men and women for their dedication and perseverance during these past few months while training at the Academy.” He added, “only the most dedicated individuals achieve success in training and in the field. We look forward to working alongside them as we uphold the law and safeguard the communities of California.”
