Governor Gavin Newsom introduced a new bill in San Diego that, if passed, would allow residents of the state to sue gun manufacturers.

During a conference, Newsom said the proposal mirrors the law against abortion in Texas and hopes it reaches the Supreme Court of Justice.

Newsom said by reaching the highest court in the country, the hypocrisy of the Supreme Court could be revealed.

“As a matter of principle, there is no principled way that the Supreme Court cannot uphold this California law. None. Point. It's inspired by the law that Texas just passed," Newsom said.

The Texas abortion law prevents the federal government from suing the state for banning abortions and allows Texans to sue the federal government if it tries to, sue doctors who perform abortions and anyone who helps a woman who wants to have an abortion in any way.

"Our message to the Supreme Court is that what's good for the duck is good for the duck," Newsom said, warning that other states with Democratic administrations could introduce similar bills on various issues.

The California bill, not yet before the legislature, would apply to those who manufacture, distribute, transport, import into California, or sell assault weapons, 50-millimeter weapons, "ghost guns" or kits to make ghost guns, home-made.

Californians could sue for up to $10,000, for losing sleep because someone fired a shot, but in each lawsuit, gun-makers would have to pay for their attorneys, plus those of the plaintiff, according to the bill.
