The Chula Vista Police Department, in partnership with local sponsors, will provide meals and toys to South Bay families in need in their 13th annual Holiday Meal and Toy Giveaway on Dec. 20 from 7 a.m to 8:30 a.m at Walmart located at 1150 Broadway.
Over 500 identified families will receive a meal voucher to attend the giveaway. The voucher will provide a frozen turkey and fixings for a holiday meal. Santa will arrive on his sleigh to give toys to children.
Last year, the Chula Vista Police Foundation held Holiday Toy and Meal giveaway as a “mobile clinic” due to the rise of the COVID-19 pandemic, and an auction that supported CVPD programs. Proceeds given to the CVPD were given back to the community.
“It lifts up the spirits of those who really need the opportunity to have a holiday meal and it’s not just holiday meals because we also give toys to all of the children,” CVPD Chief Roxana Kennedy said publicly last year.
