The public is invited to join in the celebration of the transformed park, which has undergone a remarkable facelift since its closure in March 2022. Exciting new features have been added to enhance the recreational experience for visitors.
The park's new basketball courts, complete with dedicated lines for two pickleball courts, offer an exciting opportunity for sports enthusiasts. Players will be able to bring their own nets and enjoy both basketball and pickleball in this stunning outdoor setting. Additionally, a state-of-the-art synthetic turf multi-purpose field has been installed, providing a versatile space for various sports and activities.
Lauderbach Park's renovation project was made possible through a combination of funding sources. A $1 million state parks grant, along with $820,000 from Measure P, a half-cent, ten-year sales tax approved by Chula Vista voters in 2016, played a crucial role in realizing this project.
Beyond the sports facilities, the 3.9-acre park offers a range of amenities to cater to diverse needs. Two tot lots provide a safe and enjoyable play area for young children, while conveniently located restrooms and picnic areas ensure comfort and convenience for all park visitors.
Rick Engineering was responsible for the park's design and planning, while 3Sixty Innovations took charge of the construction work. Their collaboration has resulted in a remarkable transformation that promises to impress both residents and visitors alike.
The re-opening event will be graced by esteemed individuals, including Chula Vista Mayor John McCann, District 4 Councilmember Andrea Cardenas, Chula Vista Parks and Recreation Department Director Tracy Lamb, and SBCS representative Monica Crespo. Their presence underscores their dedication to enhancing recreational spaces and fostering a vibrant community life.
