San Diego Loyal soccer team announces that Austin Guerrero is returning for a third season with the local soccer.
"The beast from Chula Vista is Back", posted the Loyal's official Twitter account, as they announce the news involving the hometown fan-favorite.
However, Guerrero is expected to have competition at the goalkeeper position entering this season. The San Diego Loyal added the acquisition of Koke Vargas, a Spanish goalkeeper who has experience performing at the European professional level in Spain.
London Donovan, club manager and co-founder of San Diego Loyal, says that the addition of Koke to the roster is an exciting acquisition to their roster.
“Koke is a tremendously talented young goalkeeper with a lot of high-level games under his belt already,” said London Donovan. “His experience playing in La Liga will help our club on and off the field and we are excited to add him to our team.”
The season opener kicks off in March 12, where the San Diego Loyal will face-off against Los Angeles Galaxy ll, in a battle between two southern Californian soccer teams. in the meantime, however, the Loyal are scheduled to play give pre-season games before the season-opening match against the Galaxy, Out of the give pre-season matches, two of them will be played at the Torero Stadium that belongs to the University of San Diego, another one at the San Diego State University campus, and the other remaining two games at the Chula Vista Elite Atheltic Training Center.
Austin Guerrero, a graduate of Otay Ranch High School, has been considered a very well-liked and appreciated athlete for the San Diego Loyal, which is a key component is being the team's guardian of the net.
London Donovan has previously expressed what the hometown Chula Vista native means to their club, citing his leadership qualities in addition to the talent at his goalkeeper position.
"Austin is one of the most liked and respected people in our club,” Donovan said about Austin. “In addition to being an elite goalkeeper, his leadership and love for SD Loyal make him an invaluable member of our team." he added.
