Thousands of San Diegans drove to North Island Credit Union Amphitheater to enjoy some good ol' Country music.
On Saturday evening, San Diegans were excited to see Thomas Rhett perform live in Chula Vista as part of his "Bring The Bar to You" tour throughout North America.
However, just two hours before the show was supposed to take place at 7:30 p.m., the country star took to Twitter to announce that he won't be hitting the stage at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
According to the country singer, he canceled the show due to health concerns regarding some irritation in his vocal area.
Rhett, 32, says that his team is working on getting him fully recovered to keep his tour going, which is why he decided to cancel his Chula Vista show on Saturday night.
Thomas released a statement with the following:
“Hey San Diego, it breaks my heart to say this but unfortunately I am not able to sing tonight due to vocal irritation and swelling and we are having to cancel the show at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre,” Rhett wrote.
Rhett apologized to the local country fans attending his concert on short notice, as hundreds were already either at the amphitheater or sitting in traffic on their way to the concert.
“I am so sorry this announcement is so close to show time. For those of you who have already traveled to the show I sincerely apologize. We’ve been working all day to try and make the show happen, but it’s just not going to be possible and have been advised not to perform this evening,” Rhett said Saturday.
According to the country star, anyone who purchased a ticket to his Saturday night show will get a full refund.
“… everyone will be offered a refund at point of purchase. I love you, Home Team and hate that we are unable to play for you tonight," Thomas concluded in his statement.
