Feeding San Diego, a local food relief and food rescue organization, said it is in urgent need of volunteers to help sort, clean and helo food that goes out to people experiencing food insecurity throughout the region.

This call for volunteers comes after the number of volunteers has dropped in the new year, but the organization maintains that they have benefited from the help of thousands over the holiday season.

Those who would like to assist with operations are tasked to sort, clean, and pack food that goes out to people in need. Volunteers are also needed to operate Feeding San Diego’s marketplace, which provides no-cost groceries to San Diegans.

The organization is also offering skills-based volunteer positions for roles such as front desk volunteers or program compliance volunteers.

Feeding San Diego is welcoming volunteers ages six and older at its Sorrento Valley distribution center, located at 9477 Waples St. Ste. 100, to help prepare food for distribution. Volunteers ages 15 or under must have an adult chaperone, the organization explained.
