Floyd Schofield's first fight after signing for Golden Boy will be against Mexican boxer Daniel Rosas on Thursday, October 20.
Golden Boy Promotions confirmed the headline event Friday, just over 24 hours after Floyd Schofield signed a deal to be co-promoted by Oscar De La Hoya's company, Golden Boy Promotions.
Schofield will be going up against 32-year-old Daniel Rosas, a Bantamweight division fighter born in Mexico City who has a 22-5-1 boxing record.
The fight will be taking place at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino and will be streamed live through DAZN.
As we reported yesterday, Floyd agreed on a co-promotional deal with Golden Boy, which he sees as a boost and a dream come true for his young professional career at 19 years of age.
“I get to learn from two legends – Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins – that I studied for years," Schofield said this week. "My dad always told me this was all going to happen. To see it really happen, is beyond words. Now I have to do my part and win.”
Schofield has already spoken about his upcoming fight, calling it a dream that has become a reality for him and his dad who also told him that this would happen one day.
“I am at a loss for words," said Floyd Schofield. "This is a dream come true. My dad always told me this was all going to happen. To see it really happen, is beyond words. Now I have to do my part and win.”
As for the Mexican boxer on the other corner, he feels ready to bring everything he's got against Schofield on October 20th in this highly-anticipated headline event.
“He might be very well-spoken and media trained but I am a warrior,” said Daniel Rosas. “I hope he knows that on October 20, I will be coming with everything for him.”
