The San Diego Humane Society announced it will have a puppy competing in the Puppy Bowl for the first time ever.
A terrier mix named Erin will wear a blue handkerchief collar and compete on Team Fluff for the “Lombarky” trophy during Puppy Bowl XIX, set to air on Superbowl Sunday. Feb. 12, 2023, at 11 a.m. on Animal Planet.
“Having shelter dogs highlighted on a national stage is incredibly valuable,” said Dr. Gary Weitzman, president, and CEO of, the San Diego Humane Society. “Just like Erin, all of the 500 deserving pets we currently have available for adoption here at San Diego will also shine once they get a second chance.”
According to the San Diego Humane Society, Erin was found by a good Samaritan in San Diego’s Talamade neighborhood at just 10 weeks old without a collar or microchip. She was adopted a week later and is currently living with a family in Milwaukee, WI.
San Diego Humane Society has four adorable puppies who
will be cheering for SDHS alumni Erin during the puppy bowl: Philly, Kansas, Patty (named after QB Patrick Mahomes), and Jalen (named after QB Jalen Hurts). The Chihuahua mixes will be available for adoption just days after Puppy Bowl XIX airs.
