The San Diego Loyal SC goes up to Monterrey Bay and picks up a loss on the road.

Over the weekend, the Loyal faced fellow-Californian rivals Monterrey Bay FC and were defeated in comeback fashion at Cardinale Stadium.

The match was off to a brilliant start for San Diego, as Nick Moon opened the scoreboard with an early goal in the first half of the match.

However, Monterrey Bay responded with their first-half goal to tie up the match heading into half-time. The second and third goals(45' and 88') came later in the second half to seal the deal against the second-place team in the league of the USL Championship.

Loyal SC wrapped up their Monterrey Bay visit with ten players on the field, due to Kyle Adams receiving a red card in the 66th minute of the away match.

Despite the loss, however, San Diego Loyal still hold on to the second-seed spot in the USL Championship with 52 points.

And up next, San Diego are scheduled to play against San Antonio FC next week, September 10, in the great state of Texas, where the Loyal will seek a redeeming victory after this weekend's loss on the road.

After their next road match, the Loyal are scheduled to make their way back to San Diego to face the Phoenix Rising on September 17th at Torero Stadium.

Loyal head coach Landon Donovan said they have to address their issues immediately as they fly on over to San Antonio to face the best team in the league.

"We have to figure out the problems, assets the problems and fix the problems," coach Landon Donovan said after the match. "We have a group that is good enough to win everything, but we can also lose any given week, so we have to be diligent in everything we do because the margins are very thin," Donovan said.
