San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria is sponsoring another adoption promotion at the San Diego Humane Society which waives adoption fees for the first 100 adult dogs ages 7 months and older.

The promotion runs from Jan.13-15 and all adult dogs will be $25 after the first 100 adoptions have been reached. This promotion comes after the San Dieog humane Society reached a record high in its dog populations with 606 canines in care.

The organization also reported it is 118% over its capacity for dogs, meaning there are still more dogs than the organization’s standard dog housing allows.

“We’ve been asking the community if they can assist us to prevent animals from unnecessarily entering the shelter,” said Dr. Gary Weitzman, president, and CEO of, the San Diego Humane Society. “There are so many things our community can do to help, like adopting, fostering, reuniting stray pets with their families without bringing them to the shelter, and rehoming your pets on your own if you can’t keep them.”

San Diego Humane Society is open for walk-in adoptions Tuesday – Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at its campuses in Escondido, El Cajon, Oceanside, and San Diego. To view animals available for adoption, visit humane.org/adopt<http://www.sdhumane.org/adopt>.
