Some activities in San Diego can be further out from the Southbay, which we understand why perhaps you may stay home sometimes. 

Well, if you're from the Southbay, Chula Vista area, we've got you covered on things happening near you in September.

1. San Diego Yarn Crawl Opening Day

Thursday, September 8th, 

261 Broadway, Chula Vista 

Emy's Yarns will be hosting a "fast knitting" competition at 4 p.m. before they officially unveil a new mural on their building created by local artist Michelle "Mr. B Baby Art" Guerrero. This event is free of cost, and there will be snacks and refreshments with music playing in the back for those who attend the event. 

2. Chula Vista Farmer's Market 

Sunday, September 11th, 

The Chula Vista Farmer's Market is taking place this Sunday on 300 block of park way, Chula Vista, located between Third Avenue and the local Recreation Center. 

3. 38th Annual Coastal Cleanup Day 

Join local community members on Saturday, September 17, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This is a yearly cleanup tradition sponsored by I Love a Clean San Diego, It will be at the Chula Vista Marina View Park, 900 Marina Park Way. 

4. Amps and Ales 

On Saturday, September 17, 1-4 p.m. This 21+ event features live music on site from artists such as the B Side Players, Marauak, the Gravities, Cumbia Machin, Eurpohria Brass Band, and the Routine. Come enjoy some good live music along with local and international breweries products to try from, including Chula Vista's Boochcraft, Nova, Chula Vista Brewery, Groundswell, and Th3e Punk Ales. General admission is $45 or VIP $60. 

5. El Grito (Mexican Independence Day) Celebration

For Mexicans living in Chula Vista, or even non-Mexicans who consider themselves allies of the community, are all welcome to come celebrate Mexican's independence from Spain next Saturday, September 17(6:30-9pm). The celebration will be held at the Memorial Park Amphitheatre. It is a FREE event for all local families. So, come enjoy this wonderful Mexican celebration with great music, culture, arts, entertainment, and more.
