One of the many gems tied to San Diego returns once again.

'Top Gun: Maverick' is delivering a sneak peak of the upcoming film that is set to release at the end of this month on May 27.

Military service members will be given the opportunity to view a special Premier tonight of the film at Naval Air Station North Island here in San Diego, while hundreds of film fans were expected to show up this evening at the red carpet event located on the USS Midway before the special screening in Downtown.

Hollywood star in this film, Miles Teller, says that it is truly iconic how the film decided to return to America's Finest City, as the city is something he considers a "character" in itself.

"Coming back to where they shot the original – it’s iconic and that’s why we’re doing the premiere here," said Teller, Rooster in this film. "Honestly, it really is. San Diego – Miramar – it’s like a character in the film itself, so couldn’t be happier to be down here.”

The big names in this film are expected to appear at the Premier, including Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, plus film director Joe Kosinski and film producer Jerry Bruckheimer

David Koontz, Director of Marketing at the USS Midway, said that San Diego and Top Gun goes hand and hand since its beginnings, due to our local glamorous beach and sunsets in this city.

"Top Gun, you know, is San Diego," said Kosinski, the film's director. "The world of Top Gun is the beach and the sunsets and so it was important that, you know, just as Maverick is going back to Top Gun in the film, we wanted to take the audience back to the world of Top Gun. So, San Diego seemed like the perfect place.”

This highly-anticipated sequel will be released 36 years after the original Top Gun movie was released.
