Two suspects were arrested in Chula Vista early Friday morning for their connection to a string of armed robberies in San Diego after a significant police search.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the robberies took place at 1:30 a.m. and 3 a.m., at gas station convenience stores located on Home Avenue in Mid-City, Washington Street in Mission Hills, and Clairemont Mesa Boulevard in Clairemont. It was reported that a woman drove a small SUV along with two men.

The suspects fled South on Interstate 805 toward Chula Vista from Clairemont after officers attempted to pull the SUV over shortly following the third robbery. Authorities say the suspects attempted to escape through Chula Vista’s side streets.

The woman and one of the two men were arrested by 5 a.m. near Rancho Drive and Melrose Avenue in a residential area south of Main Street. Authorities say the group attempted to flee on foot, but a perimeter was set by the police, who combed the neighborhood for the robbers.

Police are still searching for the third person involved in the crime spree.
