Doctors in the United States can now prescribe the vibrating pill that relieves chronic constipation, through a movement that stimulates the colon, according to information from Vibrant Gastro Inc.

The "Vibrant" pill, already authorized by the Food and Drugs (FDA), is a treatment for adults with chronic constipation who have not experienced relief from their symptoms with laxative therapies "at the recommended dose for at least one month."

The pill has a kind of charger to activate it before being swallowed by drinking water. According to the company itself, the capsule stimulates the colon with gentle movements and is naturally eliminated from the body through feces. The idea is to take a pill before going to sleep. Once swallowed, the pill is active for two hours, then stops for about six hours and comes back on for another two
hours.

The capsule continues throughout the digestive tract until it reaches the large intestine in about 14 hours after ingestion and, once there, it begins to take effect by stimulating cells nerve cells in the gut called mechanosensory, which helps initiate muscle contractions that allow food to be processed in the intestine.

These pills, which can only be obtained with a prescription and are available in tablets of 20 capsules, are designed to be taken daily along with other treatments for constipation.

Its indications state that the pill is not intended to be effective or safe in the long-term and, by themselves, do not represent a cure for this disease.
