Christmas Circle 

This longtime tradition will be on display every night from beginning Dec.11 through Dec.26 at 5-10 p.m located between Whitney and Mankato Street, just south of H Street between 1st and 2nd Ave. The residents of Christmas Circle will dress their homes in holiday decorations. The organizer Sandra Burns, will dress as Mrs. Claus and welcome guests who drive by or walk through Christmas Circle. 

Free holiday-themed events at the Chula Vista Library:

  • At the Otay Ranch Library, 2015 Birch Road, create ornaments at an all-ages Craft Workshop all day Dec. 9. The branch also hosts Cookies & Crafts With Mrs. Claus for ages 2-5 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Dec. 14. Mrs. Claus will read stories, and then children can work on a holiday-themed craft.   • At 5 p.m. Dec. 16, a Holiday Craft Workshop will be held for children and their families at the South Branch Library, 389 Orange Ave. 

A Visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus. 

Santa Claus and his wife Mrs. Claus will visit the Friendship Park deck on Dec.18 from 2-4 p.m at the Chula Vista Civic Center Library located at 365 F Street. The first 20 families will receive a free copy of the book “Little Blue Truck’s Christmas.” Call (619) 691-5069.

Santa Arrives on the Holiday Express Train

Santa arrives on the Holiday Express Train from 1–4 pm. Free activities such as train rides, free visits with Santa, holiday craft-making for children ages 3-12, face painting, balloon sculptures, and free musical entertainment from local choral groups will be offered. Crafts are subject to availability. 

Events will be held rain or shine. However, some activities may be impacted by weather conditions.  The event will be held at 2275 Otay Lakes Rd., Chula Vista. 

Nutcracker Ballet Performance

San Diego Ballet will perform The Nutcracker free of charge on Sunday, Dec.12 at Memorial Bowl at 4 p.m. This 50-minute performance of the classic Nutcracker Ballet will be followed by a free mini-class for children of all ages to learn ballet moves and perform onstage at Memorial Bowl, 373 Park Way.

Winter happenings at Village Walk

Holiday events will take place in the open-air shopping center Village Walk at Eastlake to include free snowfall, accompanied by music and lights Thursdays through Sundays at 6 and 7 p.m. through Dec. 24 at the courtyard near the Koi Pond. Children get free headbands and “magic” glasses to watch the snowfall in rainbow colors. Life-sized photo props of Santa, Snowmen, Elsa and Olaf will be placed throughout the Village Walk every Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m to 8 p.m.  A Life-Size Photo Frame will be placed today and Dec.12 from 4-6 p.m.  Look for the Life-Size Photo Frame in the parking lot area between T.J. Maxx and Otay Sushi & Crab A photographer will be available to take “picture perfect” photos using each family’s camera or mobile phone.

‘Tis the season to be ugly 

 Third Avenue Village will host their first ever Ugly Sweater + Stocking Stuffer bash on Dec.11 featuring family-friendly holiday-themed activities from 5 P.M. to 9 P.M.  

Activities range from complementary stockings for kids to fill with treats and goodies, a holiday movie-themed scavenger hunt, access to discounts and specials from local businesses, and a way to give back to the community.

Guests are encouraged to cultivate their best ugly sweater and support the community by bringing along a new, unwrapped toy to donate. 

Check-in will take place at Third and Park, where attendees can drop off toys for the toy drive, collect their scavenger hunt map and join the 50/50 raffle for a chance to win cash and other prizes. The event will also feature live musical entertainment, opportunities for photos, and more.
