July is Park and Recreation month, and the city of Chula Vista invites community members to get outside with several activities, programs, and classes.
According to the city, a few ways to participate in this national observation is by visiting a local park, verbal expressions of gratitude toward Parks and Recreation maintenance staff, and participating in programs and classes offered at the parks.
Chula Vista Parks & Recreation is where community members can register for programs, camps, and aquatic sports, find a community center or park, and rent a facility or field. Community members can find a variety of opportunities to get outside with nine community centers, two aquatic facilities, and 65 parks throughout the city.
Aquatics:
Chula Vista Parks & Rec Aquatics offers a variety of aquatic programming for all ages and abilities year-round. Classes range from swim lessons, water fitness classes, lap swim, water walking, open swim, and open play water polo.

Day Camps:
Several day camps are offered throughout the year during Chula Vista Elementary School District breaks offering indoor and outdoor fun. According to the city’s website, there are 25 classes and activities offered for children ages 6 through 12, with prices ranging from $50 to $180.

Seniors:
The city’s parks and recreation have a variety of classes, social programs, and special events for seniors. Click here to register for Senior programs & activities.
Teens:
Physical and social activities are offered to youth ages 13 through 17 years of age every Friday through the Chula Vista Teen Program. Organized activities are offered weekly from 4-6 p.m., such as volleyball, extreme dodgeball, and Nacho Fridays.

Therapeutics Recreation Programming:
Classes offered under the Therapeutic Recreation programming are specifically designed for adults 18 years or older with developmental and/or physical disabilities. According to a program newsletter, classes include functional activities by the participant focusing on independence, socialization, fine and gross motor skills, communication, and activities of daily living.
Registration began May 31, and classes start July 25.

Tiny Tots:
A preschool-type program designed for the smallest members of the Chula Vista community offers several classes and activities. The program runs from July 25 through Sept.19 during the week for $188 at six locations throughout the city.
