The exhibition beautifully portrays the living diaspora of Spanish individuals intricately tied to the American experience, focusing on seven facets of the influential Spanish heritage that has left an indelible mark on American history and culture. Guided by advisors like Michael Francis, Eduardo Garrigues, James Fernández, Luis Argeo, LucÃa Cotarelo Esteban, Juan Pimentel, Estrella de Diego, and Dolores Jiménez Blanco, the comic book creators enrich their narratives with expert knowledge.
Curated by the esteemed Ana Merino, the exhibition features captivating illustrations that bring to life various aspects of Spain’s presence in the United States:
- Sergio GarcÃa and Lola Moral’s vibrant tapestry showcases San AgustÃn, Las Misiones, and the Camino Real.
- Rayco Pulido pays homage to Bernardo de Gálvez and his pivotal role in the American War of Independence.

“Illustrating Spain in the US” is presented by the Cultural Office of Spain in Washington, D.C., in collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes in LA.
