Mater Dei Catholic High School underwent a brief lockdown Wednesday afternoon after the Chula Vista Police Department received a report of an active shooter.

A single caller reported the threat at about 1:30 p.m, according to the Chula Vista Police Department. Officers responded to the call immediately but determined that the threat was not credible. Parents and nearby residents were asked to stay clear of the campus just west of state Route 125 and South of Olympic Parkway.

The nearby Veterans Elementary School was also placed on lockdown due to its proximity to the high school as a precaution. Both schools were on lockdown to check for any hazards, but none were found, police reported.

The department said similar calls have been recently made in other jurisdictions, but there was no immediate indication of whether the various threats were related.
