A man was arrested at his Chula Vista home for allegedly beating a man to death in Spring Valley last week.
Rafael Garcia, 39 was transported to a local area hospital after being found unconscious with head trauma by deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department on Nov. 11. The assault occurred near Harness Street and Canyon Road.
According to authorities, Garcia was pronounced dead on the evening of Nov. 16 due to a decline in his condition. The suspect was later identified as Ignacio Martinez, 32, who allegedly punched and kicked Garcia during the altercation.
The San Diego County Sheriff's department will work with the District Attorney’s office regarding the charges Martinez could face.
