An investigation is underway after a 400-gallon tank of a chemical used to make cement fell and landed on a CalPortland Cement Plant Worker in National City.

The 3,200-pound tank landed on a worker and became trapped underneath at the industrial site on the 1200 block of McKinley Ave. Firefighters responded and were able to lift the tank to free the man after puncturing the tank to empty it, according to OnScene T.V.

The man suffered major injuries and was transported to UCSD Hospital. According to OnScene, the San Diego Fire Department and county HAZMAT teams were called in to check on the chemical spill that occurred.
