A Chula Vista man died Thursday night after falling from an overpass onto State Route 52 and was hit by several vehicles, the California Highway Patrol announced. 

According to CHP Public Information Officer Jessie Matias, the incident occurred just before 8 p.m. Thursday when the 27-year-old man was walking on Convoy Street over SR-52 westbound. Authorities are still investigating how the man fell from the overpass. 

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. According to the CHP press release, all lanes of SR-52 were closed for about an hour to allow traffic investigators to process the scene. 

No other injuries were reported by authorities. San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office is working on a toxicology report for this case.

The identity of the man will not be been released until the next of kin has been notified.
