The San Diego County medical examiner identified the Chula Vista man killed in an accident at the intersection of Interstate-805 North and State Route 94 as 26-year-old Jesse Armando Sosa.

According to the medical examiner, his cause of death was blunt force head trauma caused by the wreckage.

Sosa was driving a 2021 Toyota Tacoma when he crossed into the grassy median, collided with the metal guardrail, and crashed onto a concrete bridge pillar, according to witnesses.

Emergency teams declared Sosa dead at the scene.

A California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer who attended the incident reported an unknown person fired a firearm from a nearby bridge and fled the area.

No gunshot victims were reported, but the CHP is now investigating the causes of the accident, and the gunshot fire.
