A marketing campaign during the COVID-19 pandemic won the city of Chula Vista a Silver Rank for it’s We Built THIS Economic Recovery Campaign. 

The award was presented during the International Economic Development Council Awards ceremony during it's annual conference. The City's campaign is multimedia and video promotion using a series of videos, display ads, social media content and graphics by JPW Communications. 

The Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognizes top economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials and the most influential leaders. There were a total of 25 award honoring organizations and individuals for their efforts in creating positive change in their communities. The IEDC received over 500 submissions from four countries judged by a diverse panel of economic and community developers. 

“Throughout the pandemic and into our recovery, the City has worked to creatively provide support to our resilient business community. This campaign spotlighted Chula Vista makers, restaurants, hotels and shops across the city to share about the many businesses that bring Chula Vista to life,” said Miranda Evans, a Special Projects Manager for the city. “We are incredibly proud of the international impact our We Built THIS Economic Recovery Campaign has had on our small businesses and community.”

Various campaign elements were used to drive more traffic on to a refreshed explorechulavista.com featuring small businesses. This campaign has garnered over 463,758 impressions and was featured in various local English and Spanish print and television outlets, earning over 1 million impressions. The We Built THIS campaign is business focused version of it’s predecessor, THIS is Chula’ tourism campaign
