On Saturday, a woman was jailed on suspicion of attacking and killing her aunt in Chula Vista after over-cleaning a house.
According to the Chula Vista Police Department, 32 year-old Elizabeth Memea, is facing a first-degree murder charge in the slaying of 52-year-old Leticia Hernandez.
On Friday, officers discovered Hernandez’s body underneath a pile of clothing in her bedroom at a home in the 100 block of East Prospect Street, police Lt. Dan Peak said in a news release. She had minor injuries to her face, police say.
Officers responded to the home after family members reported they had not been able to contact her or heard from her for over 24 hours, according to Peak.
Memea allegedly got into an argument with Hernandez, during which Memea is accused of “choking and eventually killing her,” Peak said.
The suspect was booked into Las Colinas Detention Facility in Santee just after 11 a.m.
According to Peak, the investigation is ongoing and detectives from the Crimes of Violence Unit responded to the home after Hernandez was found.
No further information about the alleged altercation was provided.
