The San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering is coming to PETCO Park for the first time since 2020, with promises to be bigger than ever with a variety of exhibits.

The 2023 San Diego Festival o Science & Engineering returns to PETCO Park on March 4 from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m. Each year, 24,000 community members attend EXPO Day for free, hands-on, engaging STEAM experiences.

“The overwhelming success of the formative years of the Festival proved to be a catalyst for what the Festival would swiftly evolve into – a comprehensive San Diego County community event that celebrates the diverse cultures, communities, and populace of San Diego, and works to inspire the curious young minds of our region to become tomorrow’s  STEAM leaders,” reads a statement from event organizers.

The festival began 15 years ago to focus on science and engineering and to provide experimental activities in these fields to diverse populations. Some exhibits during this year’s event include activities around DNA and genomics education by Illumina Corporate Foundation, Activities around solar, energy, and sustainability by SOLV Energy, among others.

The event is dubbed to be the largest of its kind in Southern California and is a collective effort between industry, business leaders, government, community organizations, public outreach centers, academia, schools and school districts, and parents.
