The families at Olympic View Elementary School donated 1,768 socks for the Chula Vista Police Department’s 10th annual Socks and Shoes Drive.

Selected youth will be invited to Solo Shoes in West Chula Vista today to choose their new shoes and socks. The drive aims to provide socks and shoes to less fortunate youth under 18 years of age.

This drive was created in partnership with the Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVEDS), South Bay Community Services (SBCS) and the Chula Vista Police Foundation. The CVPD serves 21 middle schools and high schools, and public schools in the Chula Vista Elementary School District in addition to other charter schools.

The department works closely with school nurses and principals, as well as SBCS counselors to identify the needs of youth who live, go to school or attend counseling services in Chula Vista.

Contributors for this fund are asked to send monetary donations to the Chula Vista Police Department, Attn: Officer Ruvalcaba, SRO Unit, 315 Fourth Ave., Chula Vista, CA 91910. Checks should be made payable to the Chula Vista Police Foundation. Include “SRO Shoe and Sock event” in the memo section.
