High gas prices prevent Chula Vista residents from traveling this Thanksgiving

According to the American Automobile Association(AAA), the average regular fuel in California on Tuesday was $ 4.70 per gallon, but prices vary by location.

The Southern California Motorists Club expects 4.4 million residents of the region to travel at least 50 miles this Thanksgiving.

"I have my doubts about that," said Mr. Luis González, manager of the same gas station where Mr. Villa bought.

The administrator explained that this outlet has registered a rebound in fuel sales "but not because of the proximity of Thanksgiving, but because of the reopening of the border."

President Joe Biden ordered the release of 50 million gallons of gasoline from the national reserve to lower prices so that Americans like Mr. Villa in Chula Vista can travel this holiday.

However, the price reduction comes late to some consumers.

"It would be costly to travel this Thanksgiving; Gasoline is costly, and the danger of the virus is not over yet," said Mr. Villa.

The regular fuel was $3.17 on average a year ago, and in some places in the South Bay Area, it was below $3 dollars.
