Chula Vista residents can find summer fun at upcoming events at the heart of the city, and in San Diego that are filled with fresh foods and live entertainment.
The Third Avenue Village Association and the Little Italy Association will host the following events for families and San Diego County residents to experience:
Downtown Chula Vista
25th Annual Lemon Festival
Grab your finest lemon-themed fits and get ready for this year’s 25th Annual Lemon Festival on Saturday, August 13th from 11a.m-6 p.m. The Third Avenue Village Association will completely transform Downtown Chula Vista’s Third Avenue into a lemon-filled oasis. From lemon pie eating competitions to games, lemonade and cute pups in lemon outfits. This event is free to the public.
Third Avenue Village Market
Community members will be able to shop for the freshest produce and food products every Sunday 10 a.m -2 p.m. Over 60 local farmers and vendors will offer fresh produce, pastured eggs, freshly baked bread, sauces, and flowers. The markert will also pay tribute to the city’s rich agricultural history. Since its inception, Chula Vista has not only been known as the lemon capital of the world, but also a farmer’s delight for tomatoes, grapes, strawberries, celery, and cucumbers.
Little Italy
Marine Band Summer Concert
The Marine Band Summer Concert presented by US Bank is taking place on Saturday, July 30 from 6 p.m. until dusk at the Piazza della Famiglia with a live performance from Marine Band San Diego’s popular music group ‘Sound Strike’. This event is free.
San Diego Padres Italian Heritage Night
The Little Italy Association, Convivio, and the Italian Cultural Center partner with the San Diego Padres for the 2022 Italian Heritage Night game on the Padres vs. Twins game on July 29. Tickets are available for purchase and attendees will receive a limited edition commemorative San Diego Padres Italian Heritage Night hat. A percentage of the proceeds from this game will go back to the Little Italy Association, Convivio, and the Italian Cultural Center in support of their work of restoring and honoring Italian traditions and history. Little Italy Summer Film Festival
The Little Italy Summer Film Festival runs every Saturday from July 4-September 3. The Italian films, complete with English subtitles will be shown in Amici Park. There is a $10 donation fee required at the door.
