A man in his late 30’s died in a car-to-car shooting Wednesday, which prompted Chula Vista Police to close the area in the 500 block of E St. from Ash Ave. to Broadway.
Authorities received 911 calls shortly before 10 a.m. of a male motorist shooting at another vehicle near the 500 block of E street. Witnesses saw the shooter flee the scene and down E St. toward Interstate 5.
The victim is described as a Hispanic male in his 30s who is believed to be a Chula Vista resident, according to Chula Vista Police. The victim suffered from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at a local hospital.
The suspect is described as a 5’9”-5’10 Hispanic male with a medium build and short hair. Witnesses described the suspect’s vehicle as a silver or grey four-door Sedan, possibly a Nissan.
The Chula Vista Police Department reported the shooting at around 10:59 a.m. on Twitter. As of 11:19 a.m., the area near E street from Ash Ave. to Broadway is blocked off completely.
The identity of the victim has not been announced pending notification of family members.
It is unclear when that area will reopen. It is unknown if this was a road rage incident.
