Detectives with San Diego Police Department are searching for a man who struck another with a machete several times in Otay Mesa early Monday, leaving the victim hospitalized.
The San Diego police responded to a report of a man who was stabbed multiple times just before 3:45 a.m. at the 300 block of Magellan Street.
The victim, a 20-year-old man, was found bleeding from the back of his neck. Paramedics responded and took the victim to the hospital.
San Diego Police Officer Sarah Foster told the Union-Tribune that the victim went to check on his vehicle when confronted by a man carrying a machete. The victim was struck several times.
The condition of the victim was not immediately released.
The assailant fled on foot and remains at large. Authorities said he was last seen wearing all grey clothing.
