A man with at least 37 years of experience playing California Lottery games has turned $10 to $1 million with a California Lottery Scratchers ticket.
Guillermo Cuevas bought a $10 Lucky Winter Bucks Scratchers Ticket at Newport Liquor on Beyer Boulevard in San Diego in Otay Mesa West and won the top prize of $1 million.
“I’ve played California Lottery games since the very beginning. I still remember purchasing $1 tickets in 1985,” Cuevas explained. “The amazing part of this story is that I bought the winning ticket with the prize from another ticket I bought earlier that day.”
It remains unclear exactly when Cuevas bought the winning ticket. Newport Liquor will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
The California Lottery says the odds of winning $1 million on a "Winter Bucks" scratcher Cuevas played are 1 in more than 2 million. According to California Lottery officials, there are two top-prize winning tickers left in the state.
Another San Diego Lottery player bought a winning SupperLotto Plus ticket Wednesday, worth a cool $29,037 at a Vons store at 1702 Garnet Ave. in Pacific Beach. The ticket had all five numbers but was missing the Mega number.
The numbers drawn Wednesday night were 8, 34, 37, 44, 45, and the Mega number was 3. Lottery officials said no tickets were sold with all six numbers, but it is estimated the drawing will grow to $10 million.
