A free Creative Industries Job and Resource Fair will be hosted on May 26 by the Workforce Partnership and San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria to open access to resources and find employment opportunities.
The job and resource fair is free and open to anyone 16 and older from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Weingart Library Performance Annex on 3795 Fairmount Avenue. The Workforce partnership is creating more upward mobility and an equitable workforce for San Diegans interested in learning about creative careers.
The event is hosted in partnership with Mayor Gloria, Dreams & Ducats, Access, Inc., and The One Club for Creativity San Diego.
“Creative industries are a powerful economic engine in San Diego, generating more than $1 billion in economic impact each year,” Gloria said. “By connecting San Diegans with jobs in creative fields, we are providing opportunities for the next generation to thrive and impact the vibrancy of our city while doing so.”
California was hit the hardest, as ten million jobs in creative industries worldwide were lost during the pandemic, a 2020 report from UNESCO reads.
“As creative industries recover from the severe impacts of the pandemic, it is important, now more than ever, to promote and protect creative thinking, innovation, and problem-solving to help lead our economy recover,” a statement from the Workforce Partnership reads.
Workforce Partnership CEO Peter Callstrom said their goal is to provide the community with equal opportunities and resources to pursue successful and fulfilling careers.
“After a dramatic job loss in the creative industries due to the pandemic, this event with Mayor Todd Gloria and the Workforce Partnership is recognizing and promoting the future of career opportunities in creative occupations,” Callstrom said.
