The San Diego Humane Society will host its 36th annual Fur Ball Hala to fundraise for vital services for more than 40,000 animals this year.

The dog-friendly fundraiser will take place on Oct. 1 from 6-11 p.m. at the nonprofit’s headquarters at 5500 Gaines St., San Diego, CA 92110. The fundraiser is open to people and their well-mannered leashed pups to celebrate the magic of changing animal lives.

“This year, in particular, we have seen an incredible number of animals and people in need of our help, so we are looking forward to inviting our supporters and celebrating the impact they make in our community,” said Dr. Gary Weitzman, president, and CEO, San Diego Humane Society. “The Fur Ball is a unique evening where we get a chance to showcase our lifesaving work and share examples of the incredible difference our staff and volunteers make every single day.”

The event features a cocktail reception for people and dogs dressed in their finest attire, with a vegetarian meal and wine selections prepared by Chef Jeffrey Strauss of Pamplemousse Grill. A live and silent auction will be held.

The San Diego Humane Society provides programs that strengthen the human-animal bond, prevent cruelty and neglect, provide medical care, educate the community and serve as a safety net for all pet families.

The nonprofit has campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona, and San Diego.
