The San Diego County Medical Examiner identified the man fatally struck while walking on the Southbound lanes of Interstate 805 as 30-year-old Chula Vista resident Omar Alfonso Nicasio.
According to the California Highway Patrol, authorities received several calls on Feb.3 about a pedestrian walking on I-805 in San Ysidro at around 9 p.m., south of California State Route 905. Nicasio was walking on the interstate at Beyer Boulevard the white Kia sedan hit him.
An unknown number of other cars also hit Nicasio, according to CHP. Nicasio was pronounced dead by first responders at the scene, according to authorities.
The Medical Examiner’s office notes his cause of death was due to multiple massive blunt force injuries.
The woman driving the Kia stayed with authorities after the crash happened to cooperate with authorities. She is not suspected to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and was not injured.
