The San Diego Humane Society announced it will be hosting its fourth annual March Meowness Championship, encouraging pet owners throughout the region to participate.
Those interested in participating are encouraged to enter their best pet photos through March 12, which is held in tandem with the NCAA’s March madness basketball tournament. Pets who receive the most votes will be named the march Meowness champion, according to organizers.
According to the San Diego Humane Society, the top 32 photos are based on votes received by midnight on March 12, plus 32 wildcard entries selected by the SDHS staff will be advanced to the first round brackets with 64 pets. From there, voting is open for the Sweet 16, the Elite Eight, Final Four, the Final Two, and then the championship.
The top prize, sponsored by Petco, is a $250 Petco Gift Card.
All contest entries and voting are free, which is limited to one vote per person per day.
Winners will be announced on April 4.
