Police called off the search for a wanted suspect near Westfield Plaza Bonita Mall Saturday morning.

San Diego Police Department officers saw a man run two red lights Saturday morning and began chasing him on Interstate 805, a watch commander told Fox5 San Diego, who first reported the incident. Police made an attempt to pull the suspect over, but he refused.

When police ran the vehicle's license plate, they found it belonged to a wanted suspect, although they could not confirm that the driver was the wanted man.

The search began around 9:30 a.m. and lasted at least an hour.

The suspect stopped his vehicle near the mall and ran away.

A police helicopter was used in the search.

Police called off the search at about 11 a.m. for the suspect. No arrests were announced.
