The San Diego Police Department identified the man found deceased over the weekend at the Otay Valley Regional Park as 49-year-old Jose Gonzalez.
According to the San Diego Police Department, Jose Gonzalez was discovered in the western reaches of the Otay Valley Regional Park in Chula Vista shortly before 11 a.m. on Sunday. Investigators determined that Gonzalez was stabbed to death during an argument with another man.
According to SDPD Lt. Steve Shebloski, the alleged killer is identified as 18-year-old Milton Zuzun Tax, a resident of Mexico. Authorities said Tax was jailed Saturday on an unrelated vandalism charge, and was rebooked Monday morning on suspicion of first-degree murder.
He was being held at San Diego Central Jail without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities said the motive for the alleged slaying remains unclear.
“It is very early in the investigation, and detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of (Gonzalez),'' Shebloski said.
