The San Diego Police Department is searching for a woman who triggered a SWAT standoff on Friday in the Palm City neighborhood after shooting a tow-truck driver trying to repossess her vehicle.
The woman and a few others confronted a tow truck driver at around 1 a.m. near the intersection of Palm Avenue and Hollister Drive, the San Diego Police Department told NBC 7, who first reported the incident.
Police said the woman pulled out a gun and shot the tow truck driver at least once, leaving him hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
According to the news station, it was believed the group fled to a nearby apartment complex, prompting police and SWAT response.
Authorities said the several-hour SWAT standoff was called off after finding the apartment they surrounded vacant.
A description of the woman was not made immediately available.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
